On Sunday night, at least 19 Palestinians were shot and injured by the Israeli occupation forces gunfire while the peaceful protesters participating in night marches on Gaza borders.

Local sources reported that the Israeli occupation forces "IOF" opened fire at dozens of Palestinian youths marched on the eastern border of the Gaza Strip as part of the Great March of Return.

19 Palestinians were wounded by Israeli gunfire east of Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip, one of whom suffered a serious injury in the head, the Ministry of Health Ashraf al-Qedra said.

A child was shot in the leg and transferred to a local hospital for treatment in Al-Burij camp, according to local sources.

The Great March of Return's night demonstrations were stopped in November after Israel had vowed to ease the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip for over 13 years by expanding the fishing zone, allowing Qatari financial aid into the enclave, and offering other facilities.

Israel showed no commitment to the understandings reached under the auspices of Egypt, Qatar, and the United Nations, so the night demonstrations were resumed a week ago.

The Palestinian youths taking part in the night protests, who also call themselves "night confusion units", usually fly fire balloons and kites over the border fence, launch fireworks, and chant national songs during the night.

The night confusion units say that their goal is to confuse the Israeli soldiers stationed at the border and keep them on permanent alert.
