On February 28,2019, the UN Human Rights Council published on Youtube a video for Ahmad Abu Artema talking about the reason of the Great March of Return.
Ahmed Abu Artema, a poet and journalist in Gaza, is one of the initiators of the protests by the separation fence to Israel, referred to as the Great March of Return.
Ahmed said that I have believed in peaceful resistance for many years. When I proposed the idea, it was like planting a seed in fertile ground. I wrote principles, the most important that this movement must be peaceful.
The young men have no work and can't start their lives, they have no hope for the future. We don’t have the most basic human rights in Gaza. Something had to be done, we couldn’t wait any longer, he added.
